Russell J. Bodner, M.D.
Specializing in Arthoscopy, Joint Replacement,
Sports Medicine & Trauma
Graduating from the University of Delaware, Dr. Bodner completed his medical school training at the University of California-Los Angeles. Dr. Bodner went on to complete his residency at the University of Pennsylvania and attained a Fellowship in Trauma Surgery in Innsbruck, Austria, under the direction of Dr. Emil Beck. He has also completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine, training with Dr. J Richard Steadman in Lake Tahoe, California. Dr. Bodner is board certified and a fellow of the A.A.O.S. He is a team physician for the Northern Illinois University Huskies.
Michele T. Glasgow, M.D.
Specializing in Shoulder and Elbow
Dr.Glasgow is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. Having completed her residency training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, she went on to complete a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, she has completed a Shoulder Fellowship under the direction of Dr. Louis Bigliani at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr. Glasgow is board certified and a fellow of the A.A.O.S. She serves as a team physician for the Northern Illinois University Huskies and has recently completed a clinical rotation in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Mayo Clinic.
Steven G. Glasgow, M.D.
Specializing in Sports Medicine, Knee & Joint Replacement
Dr. Glasgow is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he attended both undergraduate and medical school. He completed his residency at the University of Pennsylvania as well. Under the guidance of Dr. Joseph Torg, he went on for his Fellowship in Sports Medicine, also at Penn. Dr. Glasgow then spent 5 years as an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Penn, teaching residents and fellows Sports Medicine. Board certified and a Fellow of the A.A.O.S. & A.O.S.S.M., he is a team physician for Northern Illinois University and a distinguished lecturer for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons review course in knee injuries.
Martin E. Gryfinski, M.D.
Specializing in Spine and Neurosurgery
Dr. Gryfinski received his undergraduate degree in pre-med at Loyola University and attended medical school at Rush Medical College in Chicago. He completed his residency in Neurosurgery at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center. Dr. Gryfinski is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. Born and raised in the Chicago area, Dr. Gryfinski attended Gordon Tech High School and practices with Midwest Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Specialists.
Photine Liakos, M.D.
Specializing in Foot and ankle
Dr. Liakos is a native of DeKalb. She completed both her undergraduate and medical school education at Washington University in St. Louis. Her orthopaedic residency training was at Washington University Medical Center. Under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Johnson, she went on to complete her Fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery, also at Washington University. Board certified and a fellow of the A.A.O.S., she is the team physician for Kishwaukee Community College. Most recently, she completed training in total ankle replacement surgery and is certified in the newest techniques of orthopaedic shock-wave therapy.
Robert Swartz, M.D.
Specializing in Hand and Upper Extremity
Dr. Swartz received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Illinois. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, where he met and worked with Dr. Michele Glasgow. He went on to complete a fellowship in Hand/Upper Extremity Surgery at Harvard University. Dr. Swartz is Board Certified in orthopaedic surgery and has a Certificate of added Qualification in Hand Surgery, issued by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Swartz spent several years practicing in Connecticut before returning to the Chicago area to
practice.
Paul Beck, M.D.
Specializing in Shoulder and Knee
Dr. Beck is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Medicine and completed orthopaedic surgery training at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. He went on to a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City with a primary focus on arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and knee injuries. While in Salt Lake, Dr. Beck participated in the care of Division I athletes. His fellowship also included training at the Orthopedic Specialty Hospital, the official sports medicine provider for the U.S. Ski, Snowboard, and Speedskating teams.
Michael Coulson, D.O.
Anesthesiologist
Dr. Coulson is a graduate of Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Chicago Osteopathic Hospital and Medical Center. He is board certified in anesthesiology and Chief of Anesthesiology at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. Dr. Coulson provides anesthesia care for patients at Midland Surgical Center as well as assisting with Pain Management services.

Dr. Houde received his medical training at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. He is board certified in anesthesiology and a member of Anesthesia Associates. Dr. Houde provides anesthesia services for patients at Midland Surgical Center.

Dr. Starkweather is a graduate of William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine and resides in Sycamore. Dr. Starkweather completed her surgical residency training at Thorak Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Board Certified and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (A.C.F.A.S.), Dr. Starkweather is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association (A.P.M.A.), Illinois Podiatric Medical Association (I.P.M.A.) and the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine (A.A.P.S.M.). Most recently, Dr. Starkweather completed training in Ankle Arthroscopy surgery and is certified in the techniques of shock wave therapy.
